The new Audi A1
The new sporty and eyecatching Audi A1 combines compact car efficiency with premium sector quality and the latest technology. Its standard features include alloy wheels, air conditioning, a single CD audio system with MP3 compatibility and ESP with the latest electronic differential lock system. Powerful all-disc brakes, ventilated at the front, electric front windows and mirrors, remote central locking, split folding rear seats and power-saving electrohydraulic power steering also feature as standard across the board. It's a new name, a new segment and a new vehicle for Audi, aimed mainly at the younger and more stylish driver.

12.03.2010 - The A1 is agile and manageable for town and city driving, while at the same time ideal for motorway use. Audi seems to have shrink-wrapped everything it stands for to create the new A1, a more compact and city-friendly three-door premium hatchback which delivers all the celebrated quality, design flair and engineering acumen synonymous with Audi, in a more compact form. The A1 has just made its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show, and will soon be available to order in the Canaries. Inside and out, the look and feel of the materials used epitomises Vorsprung durch Technik, as does the on-board technology. This includes convenience features such as the optional Multi Media Interface (MMI) infotainment system. Not surprisingly the most space efficient Audi in the range employs the most compact and fuel efficient Audi engines, all of which compensate very effectively for their relatively small displacements with the latest turbo charger technology. In the Canaries the A1 will initially be available with four impressively frugal units, all optimised by engine start-stop and energy recuperation systems. Two of these are petrol engines, the TFSI 1.2 litre 86PS, with a top speed of 111mph, fuel consumption of 55.4mpg and low emissions of 119g/km. The TFSI 1.4 litre 122CV unit can reach a top speed of 124mph with fuel consumption of 55.4mpg and equally low emissions, teamed with the standard six-speed manual gearbox or the optional seven-speed S-tronic twin-clutch transmission. The diesel units consist of the 1.6 litre TDI 105CV which can reach 116mph, with impressive economy of 72.4mpg and emissions of 102g/km, and a 140CV unit. The Audi A1 will help to keep you and your passengers safe with ABS anti-lock braking and EBD, providing extra peace of mind if you need to stop suddenly. The car has side airbags and an intelligent airbag system which in the event of an accident, has sensors that detect the severity and nature of the impact and trigger the appropriate occupant protection systems. Customers can personalise many of this car's details and adapt them to their personal tastes. The A1 will also offer a choice of equipment packages, as well as numerous customising options for both exterior and interior using an array of colours, materials and equipment designed to make each car feel as unique and personal as possible.
