 Daily news from the Canaries and the islands' biggest English language newspaper on-line Foster mother appeals conviction The La Orotava woman sentenced earlier in March to nine months in jail for refusing to hand back her foster daughter to her biological mother has appealed against her conviction. La Orotava - 18.03.2010 - Soledad Perera was found guilty by a Canarian court of repeatedly disobeying orders in May 2007 to hand back the girl, whose mother reclaimed several years after giving her up to social services for adoption. Soledad's lawyer says the conviction is a travesty of justice and is seeking to have it overturned.
